Gritty faces

My flickr contact Darek Meyer posted this most excellent street shot taken with his Ricoh GR.

There’s a lot to like about it but what impresses me is the framing with the face close up with the one in the back. This is a tough composition to set up and not only set up, but get in focus. Stopping down to get it all in focus makes for a slower shutter speed and that’s tough for street work. Darek is a pro at this.

The other impressive compositional element is that the right/closeup face is bleeding off the frame. Using bleed in a shot, either in shooting/composing or in cropping (the GR has enough resolution so severe cropping is possible) is a great technique and again, Darek is a pro and uses this very well in all of his work.
