Thayer Brook, Schaghticoke Ridge, Appalachian Trail, Kent, Connecticut.
We’ve been hiking either end of this ridge for a while now, trying to work up the nerve to do the whole thing (again, we’ve done it many times) as it’s a tough hike.
There are small streams that cross the AT on this ridge that make good destinations for photography and turning around and Thayer Brook is the one on the North end. I’ve shot a lot of ice here and big tulip trees and there’s enough drop right where the AT crosses the brook so that there’s usually some nice foam.
This day there was quite a bit of water running from recent rain coupled with snow melt so plenty of white water to capture.
